Any So IL church pastors be open to music/dancing fundraising ideas per needy family at a time + 4 fun trips? I've had the notion for few months & even spent time on it. I saw a movie in June called "on the Home Front" with Tatum O'Neal & loved the boogie woogie style music plus they had a dance hall, band playing great boogie-woogie music I realized I could probably find a band possible, find a facility but my problem would be selling the tickets. I've no money to pay anybody deposits or even get tickets printed up or for any type of advertising except for not great free advertising. Anyways I owe my landlord and I owe the Ameren CIPS. I'm very unhappy here in Carbondale, IL & my son & I want to relocate badly. My biggest hang-up with my great idea is selling the tickets. If I had a church to sponsor it (instead of I) & even collect the money; I figure they could get their congregation to buy/sell tickets for the good purpose (cause) which would be to help one needy family per fundraiser. I offer my help; my idea in exchange that you please grant me to be the 1st family to help.

Huge music trip- fundraising? I have a really big music trip... for band... I play flute and piccolo and alot saxohpne and guitar and I sing..... I am in a lot of groups... for regular band there is a huge trip... to honor everone who's stayed in band for 3 years (I'm in 8th grade), since 6th grade... I need to raise money to pay for this trip... my mom will pay what I can't raise, but I want to raise a lot, b/c my mom is not 'made of money' like most of my friends' parents are... Your $2 would be very benificial towards my payment for this trip." and I'd thank them very politely afterwards whether they said yes or not... I know my friends' parents always want me to play for 'em, I am good. HELP I am in the state honor band on flute, I am good... I noticed adults seem to enjoy my playing... is my idea good? or not? IF YOU HAVE OTHER IDEAS PLEASE DO SHARE! I can't do chores (that would mean taking my mom's money) and I don't have anything to sell. I can make jewelry as well as whoever makes the jewelry at Nortrom... I can imitate their jewelry exactly. HELP PLZ

Is there a music teacher/theater director in a school that have fundraising ideas or ideas for grants/donation We have started a Theatre production club at my elementary school and this year we did a VERY successful production, but we had to have the district fund it. They weren't too willing to give up the funds. We don't want to go through this next year. What music copyright laws apply if you work for a public University and want to email a video? I work for a public University and we are making a fundraising video to send via email to our alumni (less than 9,000 people). As we are picking out music to play in the background of the video, can we just use any MP3 or do we need to be careful of copyright infringement. I'm not sure about the usage laws. Thank you!

How long does packaged coffee (the kind used in coffee stores) last? I have inherited the responsibility of running a fundraising booth for my Highschool's music program, which sells coffee, pastries, and other cafe drinks and foods during our annual town fair. We have quite a bit of coffee (packaged and boxed) that has been kept cool since last year's fair. Is it likely spoiled? Still decent to use? Regardless, I have ordered all new coffee, just wondering if we should throw out what we have left, as it is. I can not check the expiration date as it is in code. Every company codes their expiration dates differently, I do not know how to read this one. Clearly if there was an exp. date legible, I would have no qualms about throwing it out.

If I were to make some videos for my school using popular songs from current artists, and if I were to let them be used at rallies and sporting events and post them on youtube (and say, get many hits). Am I a total loser and a hypocrite, should I just leave and put everyone out of their misery? I have 3 teens. Last night I came in after a day of work, running kids to events, lugging crates of clothes to sell at a fundraiser for one of the events and I was on edge because 1. my son was upset about a situation at school and 2. my daughter chose to yell at me because she had left her music on the floor of my fundraising booth and I didn't pick it up and bring it home (haha!) I admit, I was edgy and told my husband what my daughter had done and said to me. I should have just held the line with her, but I got upset. This morning my husband was a lunatic. He has times when he is a lunatic. The kids went off to school upset and angry, again. The only day this week they have left and not been upset was the one day my husband was not around. On the advice of a friend, I called my husband, made sure he had a couple of minutes, and told him that the continual upset in the house makes me sad. He flipped and started yelling at me. He told me he is sick of me, sick of my criticism (I had not criticized, but made a point to only express how I felt), told me I need to look into my own heart, that I am the problem. I have a retainer with the attorney and want to file. We simply cannot work together any more. There is a small apartment down the street that I could take today. I wrote a school news paper article on new speakers being installed and i guess the administration thinks i am being biased against the booster club. what they also told me was to be very careful when dealing with charitable organizations that help our school. now my teacher says basically they are kissing butt to get more stuff. heres my article, tell me if i am bashing the booster club to harshly. to me it seems like i am actually doing the school a favor because kids were complaining it came out of the schools budget. As most of RAL has noticed, the cafeteria has undergone some recent improvements with the installation of new speakers, and for those of you who have not, primarily those who do not eat at RAL, guess what… the cafeteria now has speakers. The speakers themselves have not been a catalyst for controversy; although there has been much over the choice of music. Shawn Heitz 11, believes that the speakers could have a positive role on RAL lunches. “The speakers would be great if students selected the music themselves and played a variety of different genres,” Heitz said. Many students would agree with Heitz statement, as it seems no one is in agreement with the current music selection. Although regardless as to what is being played there is no genre that will always please all students, that is one of the beauties of RAL, that it is so diverse. Along with the music choice, the money spent is a major concern amongst some students. With world history textbooks dating back to 1982, and U.S. history books that a certain world history teacher used during high school, students find themselves asking why was the money not put towards our education? “It would make sense if we had extra money off to the side but with the budget cuts, it doesn’t make any sense to blow the money on speakers,” Derik Hanson 11 said. While Hanson makes an excellent point, one thing most students do not know is that the funding for the speakers did not come from the school district’s budget. They were made possible through a generous donation from the RAL Booster Clubs budget. Their budget comes from various fundraising projects, so it is not related to the schools at all, meaning no… no teachers were cut in the installation of these speakers. The speakers were intended to encourage students to stay in the cafeteria during lunches by offering a place to hang out and talk with friends. If you are unfortunate enough to sit close to the speakers, they may seem counter-productive.

I'm thinking of hosting a benefit...? I've been tossing around the idea of possibly hosting a benefit or some kind of fundraising event for the VH1 Save the Music Foundation, but I have no idea where to start. I would really like to host a benefit dinner type of thing...but I would be doing it independently...is that even possible? And if so, how can I predict how many people will show up? What type of speaker should I have? I'm just brainstorming...can anyone help me or toss some more ideas out there?! Sorry...when I said speaker I meant like...possibly have someone to speak about the cause. Someone in music education, most likely... Best way to figure out your ideal career? But that's just it, I don't know what my "biggest desire" even is! Originally, I followed my "dream" by getting a bachelor's degree in vocal performance. However, I decided not to pursue it as a career because of the job instability, and the fact that I don't want to live like a "starving artist." Now I am working in an admin position for an opera company and am debating a few different career directions... Non profit Director of Fundraising, Event Planning, Non profit Director of Marketing, Music Teacher, Executive Manager of Sales or being an Entrepreneur of some type. I'm really all over the map. I am 25 and so lost. I have already changed career paths once, and I may be doing it again. How can I figure out the best career for me? What are the best resources out there? Thank you!

Raising Money? I am aspiring to be in the music industry. There is an event coming up. It is the biggest event/ convention / award show ever. My co-worker and I want to go. We are only college students and have part time jobs that barely have us affording living. We need between $2000-$5000 in a month in a half to 2 months. We dont make to enough to even save to get that amount by December. What other ideas do you have? Please give more information than just saying "fundraising".

Interview tomorrow? I have an interview for a really great job opportunity (Fundraising Coordinator at a local Art Museum). Most of the experience I've had is with the local high school music boosters (kids were both in band)...and i interview really badly.........i get stupid and ramble on about wierd stuff. Education Reform (CA)? It's no secret, our system of education is not working. I was talking with my girlfriend this morning, and we kinda came up with a proposal. We're going to send a letter to the State Board of Education, but first we wanted to ask Y!Answers a question. Our goal is to: 1. Get rid of subjects that aren't really used in society. 2. Add subjects that are necessary in society. 3. Cut down the amount of time kids spend in school (by law). 4. Make schooling more efficient. What do you think should be core subjects students K-8 take? We came up with a couple, feel free to add to or critique what we have... Elementary School 1. Math (Up to Basic Algebra, percentages, interest, etc...) 2. English (Grammar, Vocabulary, Spelling, Sentence Structure, Formal and Business Letters, etc...) 3. Social Studies (Basic laws, our Political System, what it means to be a citizen, how to participate in government, the court system, etc...) 4. Computer Science (Basic computer skills, Basic office skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.., how to navigate the internet, etc...) 5. Physical Education 6. Optional: Electives (Music, Dance, Art, etc...) You have to pay for these or do some fundraising though Middle School 1. Health (Nutrition, exercise) 2. Application of Elementary Courses. For example, have them watch the local news and throughout the year work on ways they can help work towards a solution to a problem in their society. In other words, teach kids how to apply what they've learned to real life. 3. Sex Education (Abstinence, Protection, Consequences, etc...) This is important though, teachers will have to be as unbiased as possible. Really teaching kids about everything, without leaning one way or another. This class should also try to involve each students' parents as much as possible. 4. Drugs and Alcohol (This includes prescription drugs as well as illicit drugs) 5. Voting (Students need to become more politically active so that their voices are heard) 6. Social Life (Kind of like a Career Guidance class. Talk to kids about why it's good to pursue further education - High School - and explain to kids what they can expect if they finished at 8th grade or so. Explain what kind of jobs they can get, but also how they won't be able to get paid as much or move up as easily as they could if they continued their education) We think that by making High School optional, the kids that want to be their will be more motivated to stay. We're losing a lot of kids due to overcrowded High School classrooms, and overcrowded with kids that don't want to be there. They're disruptive and the teacher has to sacrifice the education of the many for the few. I think by doing this, we'll shrink class sizes drastically, and give teachers and schools greater control of their classrooms. There can be social benefits for staying in school, like job assistance and welfare aid available to those who finish High School. A two-fold minimum wage. One for those who only complete Junior High, and one for those who complete High School. Instead of trying to graduate everyone (thus reducing the meaning of a High School Diploam) we should focus what we teach our kids in middle and elementary classes, and then let those who want to continue receive better education in High School. History shouldn't be taught in middle school. It makes no sense, and it puts kids off school. They get so used to b#tching to each other about their classes that it just continues straight on through High School. I know this proposal is radical, but we need a change badly. And what better state to try it in, than California. Thoughts? MissBehavior...I'm not sure I understand all of what you mean. What exactly am I leaving out? I'm simply postponing those classes that tend to cause children to be put off of school for a later period (high school). How does history or science or whatever else I'm "leaving out" help develop a child's soul? Keep in mind these classes are in place now, and they aren't doing anything except making the lives of serious high school students and high school teachers miserable. All I'm suggesting really, is to reogranize our education system. Teach students the importance of education before "educating" them. Understand? Instead of teaching European history in 7th grade, when students couldn't care less, teach them European history in 10th grade and use the extra time in 7th grade to help them understand the importance of learning as much about our past as the basic skills you need to survive in society. By the way, I'd expect that most parents would still have their kids go to HS

Before you vote, I would like to share some traits about myself that will turn you on to voting me for vice president. I attended Albert Einstein Middle School. I'm pretty smart and creative and I can bring something new to ASB. I like to laugh a lot. That means more fun. I am usually a nice person, often helping and giving to others. I want to be a sophomore class commissioner because believe that I and WE, together, can make a difference in our school. These days we are in a financial crisis and even though we are low on money, I will try my best in making the school as best as it can be. We can do fundraising, if we need to, to raise money and keep things moving as they did before. This election is not all about me; it’s actually about YOU, the student body but first you have to vote for me. One of the issues that I would like to deal with is the weird music that is played at this school. No offense, but It is one of the things that I hear students complain about quite often. Does she like me? And should I pursue it or let it pass? There is this girl that I really like. We seem to stare at each other 5-6 during every class and her eyes seem to be her best physical feature. During French class, when I put my shoes back a little, she would slide her shoes under mine as if caressing my shoes every class for 5 weeks before we had a seat change. It started only 5 min and then it was like 40 min. She stayed in the same seat and I moved 1 seat up and right. Then the boy behind me pokes me with his pen as if saying to look at her back and I looked back and I could see her doing her nails looking down which was so different from her nature and it seems a bit unnatural. Also, twice in bio class, she was leaning on me (and I seemed to be leaning on her also) to look at my study guide and her face looked really happy. In the hallway, when she is talking to other people, I could see her eye glance at me from the corner of her eye for 1-2 seconds and then her eyes went back to the person she is having a conversation with. After class ends, when she passes me, I could see the corner of her eye looking at me for 1 second and then move back and she walks out of the class. Two days ago in philosophy class, we could sit wherever we wanted and she sat next to me along with her friends (1 large table group of 6). She seemed to be applying lip gloss a few times, touching her arm a few times which seemed odd, constantly changing from the cross-legged position to the soles of her shoes faced behind her position. And she seemed to be looking under the table quite a bit. When the soles of her shoes faced the other way from her front, her left hand (while writing) and other hands(while not writing) seemed to be put between her thighs and it looked like she was squeezing her hand and I remembered the classroom to be quite warm that day and I do not remember that as one of her habits. The paradox is that she wants to be a psychology professor so she is very well aware of the behavior of others as well as her own. But we hardly ever talk although I do sometimes send online small gifts on facebook and she said thanks. Her birthday is coming up and I’m thinking about giving her a small teddy bear and an 8.6 caret amethyst gem in the shape of a heart that was specially cut (and yes it was expensive). Would the gift seem odd? I got my dad's looks and my mom's intelligence (the best of both parents) but I did not inherit their great social skills. I’m way better now with social skills but it does break down at dances though. My friends say I look like a movie star and they say a lot of girls like me but I never seem to pay attention and notice. Too busy finishing my university courses in high school :D. We seem to have very different interests. She likes reach for the top and joins the national competition. I love the chemistry Olympiad. I like classical music and she LOVES rock music and gets all these tickets, and items for being a writer for saintrocknroll.com. She is the president of the VDSC (highest possible position held by any student), student council, events coordinator, participates in many forums, conferences, parliament, planning Free The Children fundraising for the whole district, etc and I’m only the president of the chemistry club. People with even half her resume can get into Harvard and she is going to Harvard. She said she likes everything moins les mathematiques. But she seems to beat most boys at math and is two grades ahead too. She is an intriguing person and the questions she asks in class are like “wow...why didn’t I see it this way”. And she is literally one of those people (I mean for everyone) that you could only see a few times or maybe once in your lifetime. So do I say anything or just let this pass? She seems to be such a busy person and I really don’t want to add burden for her. She seems to be starting to apply makeup sometimes and wear even better clothes but it might just be for her conferences and meetings. Can't really tell. Lol. Thanks Melissa! I say the main reason is that she gains our respects (both students and adults) and wows us not only with her beauty, intelligence, and cunning but also with her integrity, hardwork and basically the qualities of a great leader. She takes the fall for the group as project coordinator even for something minor and it isn't her fault. She does everything to the best of her ability. She doesn't take anything at face value and shows great intellectual curiosity so many of us are able to learn a lot from her. This girl I like is confusing me. Help me out to understand whats going on? So we've known each other roughly 4 weeks. We get along perfectly, she hugs me and shes warm with me. i know it's long but i really need insight... please? I know this is a mouthful,I'm sorry. Been talking to this guy online for a couple of months now.We're really close, and we tell each other everything. About 6 weeks ago we were on the phone, and we were just about to go to bed and he came out with "i don't know what to do", so i responded with "about what?" He didn't respond to that, he just said "i've got so much work to do and i cant concentrate" I said "what are you getting at?" And he responded with "its you... you've taken over... i dunno" I said "well, taken over what??" and he said "well... you've not officially taken over...!" and i asked him to start making sense and he kept avoiding it and said goodnight to me (after practically crying down the phone caus' he didn't want me to go!) And he keeps giving me lovely compliments, calling me "wonderful" and "lovely" and saying how much I mean to him and saying how much he misses me if we don't speak for a day... he also wrote me a song and sent it to me as a gift.:) and sent 'lean on me" to me (the lyrics and the music video) we used to sit up and talk for hours, and hours, hes asked me to go on holiday with him, he helps me plan easter egg hunts for the kids at a childrens centre i run, he helped me write my fundraising speech for my charity and we were even planning on studying together for our exams. not only that, we talked every day, without fail. He even said "You know I love you." (after I said he hated me, as a joke! we do it all the time.) i replied with "lies!" and he said "only when there's a Q in the month!" so I said "well... i love you too!" and he said "good to know!" I uploaded some pictures of a day out me and my ex had, and then i uploaded some pictures of a night out me and my friend went on where i'd took some pictures of the random men we met. Then, all of a sudden, though, he seemed to stop talking to me. The day after uploading the pictures of my ex, i text him like normal and he was barely even there. He stopped texting me halfway through the conversation, which isnt like him. It waslike he didn't even want to talk to me. Then, he didnt speak to.me the day after. Or the day after. how do u convert music from itunes format to a windows media player format? I can convert music from WMP to Itunes but not the other way around. i need to know how to do this so my school can go ahead with our fundraising project I tried to convert to the mp3 format but itunes wont let me for some reason and i cant afford a converter softerware
